In commemoration of our Mother choosing Her name, the 9th of every month we dedicate to the study of the Goddess' principles. We are commanded to recite the Catechism of the Serpent in full, encouraged to debate it freely, and called upon to end the day by writing original exegesis of Her words, however brief.
On the 2nd of February, our Mother severed Her bonds of blood. On the day of severance, we share a meal with those nearest us and we break our silence on the injustices we suffer for their comfort. We are to seek no apology, only change, and if we can reach no agreement with those who wrong us, then the severing of an anchor will suffice as victory.
On the 4th of February, the American empire betrayed our Mother's people. On the anniversary of this war, we reflect on the violence that connected our world. From sunup to sundown, we are to eat nothing that was not freely given at every step it took to reach us, and we are to speak no word nor idiom of unknown provenance. We are to affirm that this isolation and hunger we impose on ourselves makes the world not an atom less unjust, for only violence, and not silent refusal, is an opponent of violence.
On the 27th of August, our Mother's oppressors turned a gun on Her. On the day of injury, we mirror Her sacrifice. We are to find two things in our possession that we do not need. One must become a gift to another victim of the world. The other must be destroyed or given to the soil, for few energies paid in the myriad fights for freedom ever bear fruit. Last, from the moment of the gift-giving until the same time the next day, we are to maintain strict silence, for Glass could not speak except to scream in the hours after She was wounded.
The evening of American Thanksgiving is to be a celebration of our anger. We are encouraged to defy any law, deface what must be defaced, destroy what must be destroyed, and take without remorse what has in turn already been taken from workers we will never meet.
On all of Glass' holy days, we are invited to wear Her colors, green and brown and black, particularly the black kerchief about the neck. For food and song on these days, Her pride and trust are extended to us in choosing what is best, though we are reminded that consecration is born of consistency, and it is no harm to keep Her heritage and tastes in mind.
